Almost time!

I've been working on and off on the costume for the past week. My mom finally fit me in my bodice on Sunday so that I could get that done and sew on the skirt. I had a slight problem on Monday. I ironed the inside and lining of one side of the back and flipped it over to iron the other side. DUMB! The fabric was still a little moist and when I went to iron the actual "right" side of the fabric, I burned it. And let me tell you...it was crispy. So, I sat there trying to figure out how in the hell I was going to fix that. Especially when the back pattern bodice is all one piece and I would have to completely tear the entire thing apart just to put a new piece on it, and I would have to re-line the bodice, fix the darting, etc. So, I decided I was going to patch it. I matched up the fabric (thanks to my mom for teaching me to always round up when buying fabric), hemmed the pieces and carefully patched the back piece. I have to give myself props for doing quite a good job on it. Antonia didn't event notice until I pointed it out. :-)

So, I was able to attach the skirt and I left it sitting on the table for a day or so. Last night I decided to get the sleeves ready. I added the lace on the lower part of them and put them together. Tonight I put the sleeves on the dress. Now the only left to do is the underskirt! Now, just to wait for the shoes...

Here are some pics.

The patch...can you find it?

And for a real kick...
With my pajamas pants on and a shirt. Sure looks funny!
I also wear a corset with it (which you can tell I'm not in the photo), so I'm all bundled up and looking skinny.

And you can't forget the wig!
